What Is A Virtual Assistant?

I have plenty of discovery calls and coffee meetings that happen because someone has sought out my services or was referred by a friend that knew they needed help with their business. They have a good idea of what they need help with. Even so, it no longer surprises me when the conversation begins with...

“So what exactly is a virtual assistant?”

Well, a virtual assistant is a super broad umbrella for someone that performs varied administrative tasks for a client in a location other than the client’s office or work space. Those tasks could be anything from data entry to managing social media platforms. It could be managing calendars to researching online. And, the virtual assistant could work 2 miles away from you or 2000 miles away. Any task could be handled by a virtual assistant. You simply have to hand it off.

What a virtual assistant does for you and your company really depends on your business. If you are in the real estate business, a VA could assist with listings, take care of social media or research buyer or seller leads. If you are a life coach, a VA could provide customer support for your clients, schedule/reschedule your coaching calls or handle your travel plans for your next speaking engagement. If you are a dentist, a VA could handle your confirmation calls or create your monthly newsletter.

When people ask me what I do as a virtual assistant, I provide them with a brief list of things that match their business. Basically, I do the items that are on your to-do list so that you can spend time growing your business.

How many hours a week can you take back by hiring out for those tasks?!
