DIY - Floral Picture Frame

Sometimes you want the perfect picture frame for that perfect picture. You can scour all the frame shops in town and find that none of them works for you. You know what it's time to do at that point...
DIY your own frame!
I received a holiday picture that I really want to frame. It was originally a 7 1/4 X 4 1/2 post card so I knew when I got it that I'd have to put it in a frame and live with the white space around it. Well, I decided that that just won't do! I have to make it sing!
The first thing that I did was find a piece of paper to matte my picture. I picked a designer matte and backed it on kraft cardstock. The designer matte came from my DCWV Gilded Grey paper pad from Michaels.
I wanted to add white roses all around the picture frame but I learned that you can't expect to pick up roses year round at the Dollar Tree. I also learned that the reason we get our floral arrangements from the Dollar Tree is because elsewhere rose stems/bushes are running $10.99 a bunch. So, I picked up three bunches of carnations from Dollar Tree.
All three bunches of carnations began white. Because my picture had gold stars on it, I decided to use my Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Tea on a few of the carnations. You can see the shine a little in person but not so great on camera. It's okay because the color matches the stars on the picture.
I know that many folks just pluck the flowers off of the stems and hot glue them to their projects. I began pulling the tiny green insides from the flowers and gluing each layer to my projects. I like the look and with an empty middle, I was able to add a bit of bling to the center.
After gluing all of the flowers to the frame and adding bling to the middle, I added my picture to the frame.
The end result was even better than I had planned. I sent a copy of the unaltered picture to my friend (that originally sent me the card) and she loved it!
This is fool proof! You can't mess it up! Doesn't this make you want to pull out the glue gun and add flowers to all of your picture frames? Of course it does. Once you do it, tag me on Instagram and show me your handy work. I know you'll love the look!
