Patriotic Wreath

Hey there!

I don't have a wreath on my front door!

That probably doesn't bother you nearly as much as it bothers me. You guys know I decorate seasonally and we've all learned that wreaths for the front door are pretty easy to make. So, there is no real reason that I shouldn't have one on my door by now.

I wanted to get my wreath going so I stopped by the Dollar Tree and picked up a nice sized decorative bow, star garland, a cupcake kit and fridge magnets. They didn't have ribbon that I really liked so I picked up burlap ribbon from Walmart. It's not exactly the same color as the decorative bow but who's going to get mad at it? No one!

I keep foam wreath forms on hand for front door emergencies. You never know when you will need to create your own front door wreath or make one as a gift. It is just that serious!

I used my hot glue gun and added a dab of glue to the bottom of the wreath form. That was where I was going to start wrapping my burlap ribbon. I was careful to pull it tight and show as much of the red, white and blue as possible.

When I was finished, I added another dab of hot glue for good measure. If you don't want to use hot glue you can use t-pins and push pins or even sewing pins but I keep my wreaths each year so I didn't mind using hot glue to make it permanent.

I wanted to add a little bit of sparkle so I used my metallic star garland and wound it around the wreath. I wound it around once but you could do it twice or even three times. It's just a little sumpthin' sumpthin'.

I used hot glue and plopped on my decorative bow towards the bottom of the wreath. Honestly, unless you are all up in my wreath, you can't see the color difference. Just wait a minute and you'll see.

I always pick up seasonal cupcake kits. I use the cupcake liners and pins for things other than cupcakes. The pins in this cupcake kit are American flags. I like them because the pin part fits into the folds within the ribbon. I did add a bit of glue to keep them secure.

Most people don't think of using refrigerator magnets for anything other than the fridge but I use everything for everything. I liked the magnets so I added hot glue and put them on my wreath as well.

I enjoyed making my wreath. It's smaller than many store bought wreaths but it looks nice on my door. I find that while I like the bigger wreaths, the smaller ones are just as nice and don't jump out at you. They aren't heavy and much easier to store.
