Plan With Me - August Happy Planner
Hey there!
It's August! What the heck happened to this year? One minute we were (I was) complaining about the cold weather and now we're almost ready to toast the New Year!
Ok, so that's a bit extreme but you know what I mean!
I realized when I was planning this past Sunday that we have moved on over into August. I wasn't sure how it happened but it certainly meant I had to move from bright colors in my planner to something slightly less bright. So, I thought I'd pull some papers from my stash and see what I could come up with.
I love 6 X 6 and similar size paper pads. They work beautifully for planner pages. I picked up this Wild & Free pad by the Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby. It's full of really fun prints. I also have a Simple Stories So Fancy "Sn@p Pack" from Hobby Lobby as well. Packs with embellishment pieces, die cuts and different card sizes are so easy to create several things with. I decided that these two would be the base for my August monthly page.
I chose my pieces very carefully because I wanted everything to match perfectly. Or, I picked the pieces that I liked because I knew everything would work together. Go with the later. I went with pretty over perfect.
One of my favorite things to do is use my papers to make box covers. If you are a part of the planner community you see this a lot. It's just decoration for your days. And, because I decorate my boxes, I have to add date stickers. I'm still using the numbers that I got in my Happy Planner add on pack.
After I add all of my boxes, I make them pop by adding my skinny washi tape. My skinny tape is an assortment from The Dollar Tree and multi packs from Michaels. Washi tape defines each box instead of having a run on jumble of boxes.
The great thing about cut out or ephemera packs is that you can use them as stickers! You can place them all around your planner pages for that fun touch.
Along with cut outs, you get journaling cards. I like to fussy cut pictures out or cut them apart to make other things.
For instance, I took 2 journaling cards, cut one of them down and added bits to the other one to make a cute space to write notes for the week.
I do have a hole punch for the Happy Planner but it's so cumbersome to pull it out for such a small job. I just trace the Happy Planner ring holes, use my hole punch and then cut slits under the punched holes.
I punched out semi circles so that I could add important events going on during the month.
And no page would be complete without a paper clip so I pulled some colorful butterflies from The Dollar Tree and attached it on to a clip.
I always enjoy decorating my planners. It's a Sunday ritual that just makes me happy.
